…always be a unicorn.

Always be yourself – unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn!

– and so you can live up to that motto (or can enable your kids to), I’ve put a little tutorial together for you. and you can find the horn-template HERE.

IHR BRAUCHT:                                                               YOU NEED:
– Webware oder Bastelfilz                                                  – woven fabric or felt
– ein Stück SnapPap, Tonpapier oder dünnen Karton        – a piece of SnapPap, coloured paper or thin cardboard
– ca. 20cm glänzenden Sicktwist                                        – approx. 20cm embroidery thread
– 1 Sticknadel                                                                      – 1 embroidery needle
– Nähgarn                                                                            – sewing thread
– 1 Nähnadel                                                                       – 1 sewing needle
– etwas Füllwatte                                                                – a bit of wadding/synthetic wool

Cut your horn and horn base out from fabric or felt (glittery fabric is, of course, the best choice 😉 )
Cut one horn base out of SnapPap, thick paper or thin cardboard and use a glue stick to glue the fabric horn base onto the paper one.

Serge the bottom edge of your fabric horn (or, if your using polyester fabric: use your lighter to seal the edges).
Fold your horn in half, right sides facing, and stitch along the open side. -trim the tip and turn right side out.

Take your embroidery thread and put a knot at the end. pull it from the inside of the horn to the outside, through the tip. Pull, until the knot gets stuck in the tip of the horn. Just leave it like that for now 🙂

now you can stuff you unicorn horn. I like using a chopstick to help me get the wadding into the tip of the horn.

Grab your sewing needle and thread and sew along the edge with big, loose stitches, once around the edge…

Pull at the thread to fold the edges in. Now take you horn base and place it underneath the horn’s edge on one side.

Place your elastic band underneath the hornbase and put the remaining side of the base under the horn fabrik.

Pull the thread nice an tight now and sew around the edge another two or three times to pull the fabric inward, attaching the elastic band as the same time. Make a knot and cut the remaining thread back.

Now the only thing left to do is to wrap the embroidery thread from the tip of the horn around the horn toward the base and fixating it there.

Fertig ist Euer Einhorn-Kopfschmuck 🙂
Viel Spaß damit!

And you’re done and ready to wear you unicorn horn 🙂
Enjoy!
