Herbststurm-Marlene

Ich hab mich endlich mal wieder selbst benäht!

I’ve finally gotten around to sewing something for myself again!

I do that faaaaar to rarely!
But I suddenly had a lack of longsleeved shirts and the „Frau Marlene“-pattern by Schnittreif had already been lying around for ages (a must-try pattern for my, because the boat neckline is pretty close to the one on my all-time favorite (purchased) sweater, which is falling apart)…

And then I suddenly thought: that beautiful „autumn storm“ organic knit (by Lillestoff, Design by Susalabim) would be perfect for this project! and suitable for spring, too 😉

I’m a huge coward when it comes to using this kind of beloved (and expensive) fabric, which is why I never use it, but rather go for any kind of uni-colored knit I can find to sew a new pattern (no matter how good I get at making my own individual pattern adjustments) 😉
In this case that was a pretty good idea. the boat neckline on my first test shirt was too big – I was freezing at the back of my neck when wearing it and blamed it on the width of the shoulderpart (front to back).
So for the „real“ shirt I decided to cut the shoulder part using the width of a smaller size, and it fits fine like that.
However, underhsirt sleeves still show next to the shoulder part and (if you skip the undershirt) bra straps peek out (not on the pics, of course 😉 )

Next time I think I’ll adjust the shoulder part just a tiny bit more to solve that problem.
On the whole, however, I really like the pattern and will definitely be sewing it again.
