SEVEN!

Unfassbar.

Goodness, time really flies!
So much time has past since my last post…
…since the fair that kept me so busy und kept me from blogging…
….but also: in general.
Having kids makes that extremely visible, somehow.
BAM – and the big one’s SEVEN years old!
Unbelievable.

Yay! 😀

Dinosaurs were last year – this year he’s all about Space.
But not in a Star Wars kind of way… more like: our solar system, planets, star constellations…etc.
So, of course, I had to make a galaxy birthday shirt – which gave me the opportunity to finally try cutting stencils and bleeching! Yay!

So, first, I cut a 7 and the Planets I needed out of freezer paper and ironed them onto the shirt.
Then I carefully sprayed it with a micture of 2/3 water – 1/3 bleech.
You want to carefully approach this the first time you do it, right?

Wollte doch Ergebnisse sehen!

I can be rather impatient at times, so I got my hair dryer to reduce drying time.
I wanted results!

I wasn’t quite convinced with the result, so I added more bleech to my spraying mixture and went for a second round – specially for the shoulder, which I wanted to resemble the sun in the end.
That part got an additional treatment with an even stronger mixture then, too.
Once I was happy with the result, I rinsed the shirt with water to stop the bleech from working. I then also pit it in the washing machine, just to make sure.

Next day was painting time!
I sprayed on fabric paint and painted the planets (partially with shiny paint in copper, silver and gold). Earth was a lot of fun; I somewhat messed up saturn’s ring, but I can live with it 😉

I really like the result, my son loves it (which is what really counts) and it looked really cool in the blacklight when we went bowling 😀
